Vanessa L. Vance was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas and obtained her Biology degree at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, with Dean’s List and Distinguished Student honors. She then attended South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, where she again graduated with Dean’s List honors. Ms. Vance is a trial lawyer licensed to practice in state courts in Texas, as well as all United States District Courts in Texas. She has significant experience in a broad array of litigation matters, with specialized expertise in toxic tort, environmental and product liability cases. She has represented various clients who have been defendants in mass toxic tort cases in Texas, as well as Louisiana and Mississippi. In addition, she has handled commercial litigation matters as well as employment law, insurance defense, premises liability and medical malpractice cases.
Ms. Vance has been actively involved in the Houston Young Lawyer’s Association and the Houston Bar Association, serving as Chair of the Special Olympics Charity Auction Committee, and working on the HYLA Fun Run and Charity Golf Tournament Committees. Ms. Vance is also actively involved in her community, including the Brenner Court Board of Directors, Rummel Creek Elementary, and Holy Spirit Episcopal Church & School. She is also a member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, College of the State Bar of Texas, and is a Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation. She is also a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America.
In 2006, Ms. Vance was honored as a Texas Rising Star by Law & Politics and Texas Monthly Magazine. She was also honored by Houston’s H Magazine as one of Houston’s Professionals on the Fast Track in 2006.
Ms. Vance has been a speaker at numerous continuing legal education seminars including: Toxic Torts and Other Mass Tort Litigation, “Presenting Your Corporate Representative for Depo-The Defense Perspective” (UH Law Foundation-June 2005); speaker and moderator at the State Bar of Texas CLE Webcast, “Toxic Tort Litigation and the Effects of Tort Reform” (September 2006); Texas Silica 101 Conference-Hyatt Downtown Houston, “General Respiratory Equipment Issues” (February 2005). She is a scheduled speaker at the 2007 State Bar of Texas Advanced Civil Trial Law CLE.
